SUBJECT: Extension of Deadline for Comments on Repeal of Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-21, Contractor Responsibility, Labor Relations Costs, and Costs Relating to Legal and Other Proceedings

SYNOPSIS: This notice extends the comment date on the proposed rule to repeal FAC 97-21 (the so-called "blacklisting" regulations) to July 6, 2001, and announces that a public meeting will be held on June 18, 2001, to discuss the proposed rule.

DATES: The deadline for comments on the proposed rule that would permanently repeal FAC 97-21 has been extended from June 4, 2001, to July 6, 2001.

A public meeting will be conducted from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., on June 18, 2001, to permit an open dialogue on the proposed rule.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: On December 20, 2001, FAC 97-21 was issued addressing contractor responsibility, labor relations costs, and costs relating to legal and other proceedings. On April 3, 2001, FAC 97-24 was issued to suspend the effectivity FAC 97-21 for 270 days, until December 29, 2001, or until finalization of a proposed rule that would repeal FAC 97-21, whichever occurs first. Comments on the proposed rule to repeal FAC 97-21 were to be received by June 4, 2001. This notice extends the comment date to July 6, 2001, and announces that a public meeting will be held on June 18, 2001, to discuss the proposed rule.
