ACTION: Final Rule
SYNOPSIS: DOD is amending DFARS 252.225-7021, Trade Agreements, to add the Dominican Republic to the definition of "Caribbean Basin country" so DOD may acquire products of the Dominical Republic under the Trade Agreements Act. This action is taken in accordance with the direction of the United States Trade Representative (USTR).
EDITOR'S NOTE: The Trade Agreements Act applies to acquisitions for supplies or services if the estimated value of the acquisition is $169,000, and to construction if the estimated value of the acquisition is $6,481,000. For more on the Trade Agreements Act, see FAR Subpart 25.4, Trade Agreements, and the corresponding DFARS Subpart 225.4.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: On May 21, 2003, the USTR directed the government to treat the products of the Dominican Republic as eligible products in acquisitions subject to the Trade Agreements Act. To comply with this direction, DOD is amending DFARS 252.225-7021(a)(1) to add the Dominican Republic to the list of Caribbean Basin countries.
